2 Texas getaways book lofty spot on Airbnb’s top U.S. searches list
Understandably, Americans itch all spring and summer to get away from it. Some seem to scratch that itch with stays at the Texas Gulf Coast community of Surfside Beach and the quaint community of Round Top.
Based on Airbnb data released on March 17th, Surfside Beach and Round Top are the third most popular travel destination in the US this spring and summer. (Airbnb’s post about the most searched places on their website mentions Round Top, but inadvertently omits Surfside Beach.)
TourTexas.com describes Surfside Beach as follows: “This one-of-a-kind Gulf Coast getaway is home to four miles of pristine coastline, unique restaurants and colorful surf shops. Surfside Beach is just an hour from Houston and offers a hassle-free escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city. “
Airbnb highlights these two rental properties in Surfside Beach, about 65 miles south of Houston:
A house near the beach that rents for $ 183 a night. According to the Airbnb listing, this three bedroom, two and a half bathroom property is in a “quaint and quiet spot overlooking the waterway.” The home has coastal decor, two decks, and a charcoal grill.
A “romantic” vacation home just blocks from the beach that rents for $ 171 a night. “Though small, everything you need is here and made with exquisite taste from the finish to the furnishings to the décor,” the Airbnb list reads. One bedroom, one bathroom hotel highlights include a patio, gas grill, and ceiling fans throughout. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome.
Texas Monthly is calling Round Top – just a few hours east of San Antonio – the state version of Aspen, Colorado.
“Our city is the best of both worlds. We are the Round Top Antiques Show. We are country chic meets art and culture. We are excellent shopping and southern hospitality. We are upscale cuisine mixed with living space on the veranda, ”says the Round Top Area Chamber of Commerce.
Airbnb draws attention to these two rental properties in Round Top, about 95 miles northwest of Houston:
