Bangalore – Kempegowda Worldwide Airport Suburban Practice has began.
Starting Monday, travelers in Bangalore can finally catch a train that runs near the international airport on the outskirts of the city. Previously, passengers had to rely on airport taxis, bus connections that used to cost around INR 250 per person.
Now the South Western Railway began suburban train service to Devanahalli Station, which is near the airport. This new service will be the first low-cost, faster, non-road commuter service to reach the airport. A total of 5 pairs of trains will run from the city center to the airport with tariffs of just 10-15 INR. According to reports, BMTC shuttle services will run from the train station to the airport with tariffs as low as INR 10.
Karnataka Chief Minister Shri BS Yediyurappa tweeted about it: “From Monday, Bengalureans can take a train to Kempegowda International Airport at Devanahalli station. The trains run from Bengaluru Station to the newly built KIA Station, Devanahalli Railway. “
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said the train route will not only be beneficial for many people, it will also drastically reduce traffic congestion.
When he talked about it, he tweeted: “The Kempegowda International Airport Halt station in Bengaluru, Karnataka, is scheduled to serve travelers from January 4th. This will go a long way towards improving connectivity to Bengaluru Airport on the last mile, benefiting people’s lakhs and drastically reducing traffic congestion. “
Vijaya, deputy general manager and chief public relations officer of South Western Railways, told a leading newspaper: “As we all know, Kempegowda International Airport is one of the largest and busiest airports in our country. Reaching this airport has always been a problem for air travelers. In some areas of Bangalore it would take an hour and a half to two. Given the traffic situation in Bangalore, getting to the airport was a real problem. To eliminate this problem, BIAL and the Southwestern Railways have teamed up to provide a stop in the immediate vicinity of the airport. The railroads made the land available. The airport authorities built the station. In order to serve this station exclusively, we drive 5 pairs of trains. Two are from Majestic – that’s KSR, Bengaluru. One will come from Yelahanka. As always with Railways, the ticket price is very low. The ticket price from Bangalore train station is £ 10. If it goes through Cantonment Station, it is £ 15. “
It will be beneficial to residents working at the airport, the official said. Ms. Vijaya also mentioned, “There are thousands of workers at Bangalore Airport. The devices will be of great use to them too. We spoke with the airport authorities and arranged train times to meet the airport peak times in the early morning and late evening. We hope that the services will be well attended. “
Currently, trains run for one hour from KSR station in Bangalore to Devanhalli Airport station with stops in between. And if the response is good, there may be non-stop trains.
