CNN host Jake Tapper said Sunday that he would not book Trump insiders like White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany and Jason Miller, the Trump campaign’s senior advisor, because it “has no value” on them to interview.
On CNN’s Reliable Sources, Tapper was asked about the challenges of reporting the Trump administration, specifically whether he thought yields were “falling” because he was “not learning the truth”.
Tapper said there were “some people who were so lying that I just wouldn’t put them on the air.” He specifically named McEnany and Miller as such individuals.
“These are people who tell lies the way most people breathe,” Tapper told host Brian Stelter.
He later added that McEnany “tells lies all the time. She can’t admit reality. I’m just not going to put anyone like this on air.”
McEnany replied on Twitter calling Tapper’s comments “a therapy session for a broken network” and saying that Tapper was “lazy enough to participate in unsubstantiated personal attacks with NULL evidence”.
“Jake’s real problem: I don’t leak. I don’t lie. But I call out the lies of the media (i.e. CNN Russia Collusion Hoax!),” She said.
