Maranda’s Weekend Fun Guide for March 19th-21st

GRAND RAPIDS, me. (WOOD) – The warm weather is here and there’s no better place to spend your weekend than outside with baby goats and sheep, or with fresh pure Michigan maple syrup. Check out what’s happening in West Michigan!

Sheep, goats and kittens, oh my god! Head to Critter Barn this Saturday from 10am to 5pm to see all of the animals it has to offer. You can even try bottle feeding the newborn bull calves or milking a goat. There’s so much cuteness to see at Critter Barn this spring so don’t miss out.

CAR TREASURE HUNT IN JENISON

Join Cedar Church on their very first auto treasure hunt. This will be a free afternoon of fun and prizes. Pick up a treasure map in the church from 1-4am and then start a treasure hunt in the surrounding parks. Participants who complete the hunt can win a free family weekend at the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City.

MICHIGAN MAPLE SYRUP FESTIVAL

Come on for something sweet this weekend at the Maple Row Sugar House. The Michigan Maple Syrup Festival has everything for a pancake breakfast with Pure Michigan Maple Syrup for a painting contest and petting zoo. You can also enjoy free tours of the sugar bush and fresh maple syrup production facilities. All this and more this weekend from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY AT FELLINLOVE FARM

Rock your crazy socks on this Sunday at Fellinlove Farm to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. To promote awareness, acceptance, inclusion and celebration of people with Down syndrome, Fellinlove Farms offers farm tours, pony rides, walks on nature trails and much more. Drop by from 2pm to 4pm to celebrate.

DINO LITTLE LEAPERS AT SKY ZONE GRAND RAPIDS

Children under the age of 7 come to the Sky Zone Grand Rapids at 10 a.m. this Thursday for a two-hour bouce of dinosaurs. Not only do Little Leapers have two hours to exercise, but kids can create special crafts, get temporary tattoos, and even take pictures with dinosaurs. For more information and tickets click here.

OPEN SKATE AT CEDAR ROCK SPORTS PLEX

If your child plays hockey, figure skating, or just loves to skate, head to Cedar Rock Sports Plex on Saturday from 1pm to 3pm for an open skate! Every Saturday in March they organize open skating from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Please visit their website for more information.

VIRTUAL SAFARI WITH JOHN BALL ZOO

The John Ball Zoo offers virtual safaris every weekend! This Saturday at 10 a.m., follow them up close and personal with information about various animals for 30 minutes. Splash into spring with some feather-light friends this Saturday for “All Quacked Up”. The event costs $ 3 for members and $ 5 for non-members and you can register here!

MARCH STORYWALK BOOK IN HASTINGS

The March Storywalk Book in Hastings is free, educational, and outdoor! Grab the kids and walk through the Pierce Cedar Creek Institute as you read We Are Water Protectors. A 2021 Caldecott Medalist for America’s Most Respected Children’s Picture Book, the book follows the journey of a young indigenous girl who reminds us that we are all on Mother Earth together to help protect the water.

DROP-IN STUDIO IN THE GRAND RAPIDS ART MUSEUM

The Grand Rapids Art Museum is hosting a drop-in studio session. Learn how to make a 3D paper bouquet card from 1pm to 4pm. This event is free and included in the price of entry for GRAM members ($ 10 for adults, $ 6 for teens 6-17 years old, and $ 5 for children under 5 years old).
