Punta Cana Named a High-Searched Vacation spot for 2021 Journey
Dominican Republic, December 9, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – According to a new report, Punta Cana is one of the most wanted vacation destinations for 2021 according to Condé Nast Traveler.
The ranking was based on data from the Expedia report “2021 Travel Trends” and places Punta Cana in fifth place. Expedia results show that seclusion, sun and sand are three of the top priorities for travelers in 2021. It is therefore not surprising that the vacation capital of the Dominican Republic has made it onto the list.
“The Dominican Republic continues to have some of the toughest security in the Caribbean during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Magaly Toribio, marketing advisor for the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism. “Travelers looking for a safe haven will find it on the shores of Punta Cana and throughout the rest of the country.”
Whether your vacation quest leads you to the turquoise beaches and coral reefs of Punta Cana or other beautiful and secluded corners of the country, the Dominican Republic promises seclusion, sun, and sand in spades for all types of travelers.
Untouched beaches and resorts in Punta Cana
Punta Cana offers 30 miles of white sand coastline and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the scenery and sunshine. This waterfront paradise is also easily accessible via several non-stop flights from the United States
Find your home base in Punta Cana at an all-inclusive family resort, or stay at a chic boutique hotel or private villa. Many properties also offer prime beach access. Be sure to book a tee time outside of the resort to play golf at one of the area’s ten golf courses, or book a beach treatment at one of Punta Cana’s world-class spas.
Across the main street from Playa Bávaro, beach lovers can visit Playa Blanca for diving and snorkeling, Playa Juanillo for excellent kite surfing, and Playa Macao – a wide stretch of sand lined with palm trees – for authentic seafood on one of the most beautiful beaches in the country.
Secluded retreats in the northeast and southwest
While Punta Cana has sunshine and relaxation right at your fingertips, other parts of the country – including the Samaná Peninsula, recently touted as tropical splendor by Travel + Leisure, or Barahona to the southwest – are well worth a trip off the beaten path. Both coastal destinations offer the opportunity to create your own private piece of paradise.
Visit Samaná between January and March to see the breathtaking spectacle of 3,000 to 5,000 humpback whales migrate to the bay to mate and care for their calves. For an unforgettable adventure, explore the lush and wild nature in Los Haitises National Park, where you can take the mangroves by boat for an up-close look at the park’s flora and fauna. The accommodations are just as enchanting as the excursions from Samaná. Here you can stay in a luxury boutique hotel or immerse yourself in one of the region’s innovative eco-lodges.
In the southwest, Barahona is an unspoiled region that is rich in breathtaking nature. This burgeoning ecotourism hotspot is also known as the “Pearl of the South”. It’s famous for its biodiversity reserves and parks, pristine beaches, and some of the best coffees in the country. Visit Lake Enriquillo, the largest lake in the Caribbean, for unparalleled wildlife – keep an eye out for crocodiles and pink flamingos. Bring your surfboard and catch a wave on one of the many white sand beaches in the area or plan a day out on a mountain bike.
