She seduced me – A love affair with Rome by Mark Tedesco

As a Baby Boomer travel, health, and fitness blogger and avid reader, I recently added a new book reviews segment to my blog. My final reading is the featured author’s latest publication, entitled; She seduced me – a love affair with Rome.

If you are not completely familiar with the term baby boomer, first read my introduction here on the Gr8 Travel Tips homepage. It has an entertaining detailed description of who we are, millions of boomers around the world. 🙂

My family and I were able to visit Rome a few years ago on our Western Mediterranean cruise. Unfortunately it was only a short day visit but what we saw looked fabulous. The city is just full of history!

When I heard of Mark’s most recent publication in Rome, I was delighted to have the opportunity to read this publication and provide a personal review.

How Rome seduced Mark and his love affair with the city

Mark German

In recent years my wife and I have become increasingly aware of overcrowding in the most popular travel destinations around the world during our international travels. We experienced this again on our last trips to Thailand and the Philippines.

We are now concentrating more on stepping out of the box and would like to visit less popular, but nonetheless desirable travel destinations.

Mark’s book takes you on a personal journey to many hidden gems in and around Rome that certainly meet these criteria that we are now looking for.

The city of Rome – Italy

The Colosseum Rome

Ancient Rome was already mentioned in 753 BC. Founded in BC. The first king of Rome and the founder of his city was Romulus. Hence the city was named after him.

When we hear about Rome, most of us automatically think of what we are most used to. The Vatican, the Pope, the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Square, the Sistine Chapel and of course the Roman Empire. Augustus (Julius) Caesar, whom we all know, declared himself 31 BC. To the first emperor of Rome, and the rest is history!

St. Peter's Basilica Rome Italy Italy

Rome is the capital of Italy and the most populous city in the country with a population of approximately 4 1/2 million people. Vatican City is a completely independent country that lies within the city limits of Rome.

In 2019 Rome was listed as the eleventh largest city in the world with over ten million visitors from all over the world. The majority of the tourists who only experience what I mentioned above in the city like we did during our visit.
