ShippingEasy Publishes Information to 2021 Delivery Charges

A new guide aims to help online merchants understand and adapt to the 2021 tariff changes recently introduced by all major shipping companies.

ShippingEasy’s 2021 Guide to Ecommerce Shipping Rate Changes includes a summary of the changes, case studies, and an updated dimensional packaging tutorial. This can confuse sellers who are first shipping large, lightweight items.

It also includes easy-to-use comparison tables to help you determine the most cost-effective carrier according to Shipping Easy, which provides a platform for merchants to manage their online shipping and receive discounted USPS and UPS shipping rates.

ShippingEasy’s Rob Zaleski said the annual price change guide will help sellers optimize shipping by helping them fully understand price changes in 2021. Perhaps more importantly, it is the only resource that can help them mitigate the impact of the changes by clearly stating how switching to an alternative service will reduce the impact of the rate increases or even lower rates in 2021 than the installments can secure paid in 2020, “he said.

On January 24th, new tariffs went into effect for USPS. for FedEx on January 4th; and for UPS on December 27, 2020.

According to ShippingEasy, the Rate Change Guide offers the following features:

  • A summary of the tariff changes: A one-way side-by-side comparison of changes made by each airline, highlighting the most important aspects and providing links to more detailed information on the airlines’ websites.
  • Tools to determine the most cost-effective carrier for a given set of shipping parameters: The guide is the only publication available that includes easy-to-use comparison tables that allow shippers to quickly determine which carrier offers the best prices for a package based on weight, dimensions, destination zone and service level. It also indicates where alternative, cost-saving services may have to be considered (e.g. USPS First-Class Package Service®, USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate® or USPS Priority Mail Regional Rate® boxes).
  • Examples of how the changes will affect real-world ecommerce businesses: Case studies show the impact of the changes on real-world shipping examples from online businesses in 5 different product categories taken from ShippingEasy’s proprietary (and anonymous) shipping data. These examples not only show the effects of increasing rates, but also show (where possible) potential savings by considering alternative services and / or network operators.
  • An updated tutorial section on dimension pricing: Dimensional pricing, which can result in a shipping fee being based on the dimensions rather than the weight of a package for some large, light packages, has always been an important concept for ecommerce sellers to optimize packaging and lowest shipping cost possible. The “Dimensional Pricing” section of the guide clearly explains the rules and formulas each carrier uses to calculate dimensional pricing. Examples of the use of real products show the effects of this pricing model.
