Virgin Australia provides away 20 million free Velocity factors to lure extra travellers to e book flights
Virgin Australia will be giving away 20 million free Velocity Points to encourage travelers to book flights as state borders are set to ease in the coming week.
The major airline’s offering through its frequent flyer program is available Tuesday through midnight, and gives members the opportunity to earn free points that can be used on future trips.
Virgin Australia said the increase in points coincided with the likely relaxation of border restrictions, which were reintroduced after the Northern Beaches eruption in Sydney before Christmas, prompting state governments to shut down NSW.
“We are committed to our members, and this is our way of thanking them for their loyalty and making it a bit easier to improve their points balance in time for the easing of the limit restrictions,” said a spokesman.
“We have shown this many times during the pandemic with bonus points, as well as points and status credit extensions, knowing that our members have not been able to fly as often in the past few months.”
